Exotic Luxury in the Heart of North Yorkshire

A warm welcome awaits you ...
Welcome to Byways - a luxury boutique Bed and Breakfast ideally placed in the quiet hamlet of Flaxby, just a few miles from Knaresborough, Harrogate and York, and just over a mile from the A1M.

We are your hosts Caroline and Darren who, having enjoyed the experience of staying at a large number of individual B&Bs over the years, extensively renovated our home in North Yorkshire to provide the kind of B&B we would choose to stay in ourselves.

Our three beautifully decorated individual en-suite rooms - The Africa Suite, The Egypt Room, and The Mexico Room - allow you to experience exotic luxury in the heart of North Yorkshire.

Having enjoyed a number of holidays in each of these amazing places, we have recreated our personal experiences in the style and decoration of each room, which are filled with ornaments, carvings and paintings brought back from our travels.  Our guest rooms are in a separate side of the house to our living accommodation, and therefore provide complete privacy for our guests.  We are, however, always on hand should anything be needed at any time.

As experienced hosts, we take a huge amount of pride in the immaculate presentation and cleanliness of all our rooms, and love welcoming new guests to spoil.

We live in a truly amazing part of England, and are keen to share our fabulous surroundings with others.

Perfectly placed
Flaxby is a quiet rural hamlet just 3 miles from Knaresborough.  There is a fantastic food pub, The Tiger Inn, just a mile down the road that can be easily accessed by foot or car, and many other similarly great hostelries just a short distance away.

Knaresborough itself is a beautiful North Yorkshire market town, steeped in history with fascinating stories from the past.  Cobbled paths and stone staircases lead down to the riverside, where you will find boats for hire, mini golf, beautiful walks and friendly inviting cafes.

There is a huge array of interesting places to visit - Knaresborough Castle, The Old Courthouse Museum, and the infamous Mother Shipton's Cave to name just a few.

The town has a number of interesting individual shops to pull at your purse strings, not to mention an array of friendly, inviting tea rooms and pubs to tempt your tummy!

Knaresborough's Nidd Gorge - fabulous in any season
The beautiful spa town of Harrogate is just a few miles away, easily accessed by road, rail or bus, where the infamous Betty's Tea Rooms awaits you.

The equally beautiful city of York is almost as near, as are the charming Yorkshire market towns of Wetherby, Ripon and Boroughbridge.

There are a number of beautiful walks around the local area, and both the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors are easily accessed, where some of the best walks in England can be discovered.

We are also ideally placed for guests attending events at the Great Yorkshire Showground, Goldsborough Hall, Allerton Castle, and Rudding Park, all of which are just a short drive away.

For cycling fans, we are very close to the action for the 2019 Tour de Yorkshire taking place in May 2019, and the UCI Road World Championships taking place in September 2019.

Come and pay us a visit - we promise you won't be disappointed!
