Welcome to Byways, a luxury boutique bed and breakfast located in the peaceful North Yorkshire village of Flaxby, one mile from the A1(M) betwixt beautiful Knaresborough, Harrogate and York, and in close proximity to the fabulous Yorkshire Dales and East Coast, and a myriad of interesting places to visit.
We are your hosts Caroline and Darren, together with our beloved Cockerpoo, Charlie. Having enjoyed staying at a number of individual B&Bs over the years, we renovated our home near Knaresborough to provide a bed and breakfast experience that we would choose for ourselves. We were delighted to recently receive Tripadvisor's "Travellers Choice" Award, as a result of the lovely reviews left by our previous guests. Our three beautifully decorated individual en-suite rooms - The Africa Suite, The Egypt Room, and The Mexico Room - allow you to experience a little bit of luxury in the heart of North Yorkshire.

Each room is individually styled and decorated to reflect our personal experience of these amazing places, filled with ornaments and paintings brought back from our travels. The guest rooms are in a separate side of the house to our living accommodation, and provide complete privacy for our guests. We are, however, always on hand should anything be needed at any time.
As experienced hosts, we take a huge amount of pride in the immaculate presentation and cleanliness of all our rooms, and love welcoming new guests to spoil.
Our peaceful rear garden is the perfect place to sit back and simply relax, either on your private patio area or on our swing seat.

Flaxby village is 3 miles from Knaresborough, a beautiful old North Yorkshire market town steeped in history with fascinating stories from the past. Cobbled paths and stone staircases lead down to the riverside, where you will find boats for hire, beautiful walks and friendly inviting cafes.
There are so many interesting places to visit - Knaresborough Castle, The Old Courthouse Museum, and the famous Mother Shipton's Cave to name just a few. The town also has a number of interesting individual shops to pull at your purse strings, and an array of friendly, inviting tea rooms, pubs and restaurants to tempt your tummy.

The equally beautiful ancient city of York, named by Conde Nast in January 2024 as the top English city to visit, is 12 miles away and the charming market towns of Wetherby, Ripon and Boroughbridge are also very close by.
There are a number of beautiful walks around the local area, and both the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors are easily accessed, where some of the best walks in England can be discovered.
Byways is also ideally placed for guests attending events at the Harrogate Conference Centre, the Great Yorkshire Showground, and Rudding Park, all which are a short drive away.
We are also ideally located for weddings at nearby Goldsborough Hall, Allerton Castle, and Rudding Hall, and provide the perfect place to make the most of such a joyful occasion.
